Home UWL RAK Transitions Under the Jurisdiction of Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK)
It is with great pleasure that the University of West London Ras Al Khaimah (UWL RAK) announces that, as of 9th February 2025, it is officially operating under the jurisdiction of the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK). This significant transition aligns the university with the updated regulatory framework and underscores its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in educational quality and institutional governance.
As part of this transition, RAK DOK will conduct regular inspections to ensure that all institutions are fully compliant with the required standards. Universities will be rated annually based on their performance in these compliance inspections, with institutions being categorized into Diamond, Gold, or Bronze according to their inspection results.
The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) is a regulatory government authority established in 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Its mission is to enhance the quality of education across the emirate and to regulate the private education sector. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education (MoE), RAK DOK is empowered to oversee private educational institutions within Ras Al Khaimah, ensuring they meet global standards and trends in the sector.
RAK DOK’s efforts align with Ras Al Khaimah’s Vision 2030, which seeks to advance the educational system to keep pace with emerging global trends. The department supports innovation and excellence across all educational fields, including higher education, private schools, vocational training, and lifelong learning programs, ensuring students receive a world-class education.
Operating similarly to other educational regulatory bodies in the UAE, such as KHDA in Dubai, ADEK in Abu Dhabi, and SPEA in Sharjah, RAK DOK will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education in Ras Al Khaimah.
This move reflects UWL RAK's dedication to upholding the highest standards in education, and we look forward to continuing our work within this enhanced regulatory framework to foster a better academic environment for all.
