Our Students’ Recent Industrial Visit to Al Hathboor Bikal.ai

We're thrilled to showcase our students' recent industrial visit to Al Hathboor Bikal.ai at Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park. The visit encompassed a tour of Maahr, the state-of-the-art high-performance computer data center, a presentation tailored to the subject, an insightful expert talk, and an interactive Q&A session.

The University of West London RAK Branch campus secured the “Diamond” rating in the RAKEZ – QAA UK Quality Evaluation Ranking 2023

The University of West London RAK Branch Campus proudly reveals its attainment of the prestigious "Diamond" rating in the 2023 RAKEZ - QAA Quality Evaluation Ranking. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering pursuit of excellence in education and the exceptional quality standards maintained by the institution.

The Quality Review conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) - UK was implemented to evaluate the quality of education and student experience across all Branch Campuses at RAKEZ Academic Zone. The Quality Review is benchmarked against 11 standards developed by the QAA in collaboration with RAKEZ. These 11 standards cover the key areas vital for successful quality provision and learning environments in higher education. The evaluation also took into account how the home university monitors the operations of the branch campus and ensures the comprehensive implementation of all 11 standards such as Policy for quality assurance, Design and approval of programmes, Student-centered learning and teaching and assessment, Student admission, progression, recognition and certification, Teaching staff recruitment and development, Facilities and learning resources, Student support services, Partnerships with industry and development plans, Public information, Monitoring and periodic review of programmes and Cyclical external quality assurance. The RAK Branch campus of the University of West London achieved high ratings across all criteria, earning a prestigious "Diamond" rating.

The leadership team at UWL RAK enthusiastically embraces and celebrates this outstanding rating, recognizing it as a significant milestone that reflects the collective dedication and relentless efforts of the entire academic community. This achievement reinforces the commitment to upholding the highest standards of education and motivates a continuation of fostering a culture of excellence for the benefit of students and the broader academic community.

Presently, the university provides four undergraduate programs: BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Business Studies, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, and BSc (Hons) Cyber Security. The BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course holds accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), granting students eligibility for exemptions in nine ACCA papers upon successful completion. Additionally, the university offers three postgraduate courses: a Master's in Business Administration, MSc Cyber Security, and MSc Artificial Intelligence. The institution currently accommodates 945 students. Over the last five years, 357 students have successfully completed their degrees and graduated.

Riad Hossain’s Inspiring Internship Journey at Junkbot Inc

Riad Hossain, a BSc (Hons) Computer Science student, recently had a great experience during his internship with Junkbot Inc. He had the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority - DEWA on a special project. During his internship, he had the privilege of imparting knowledge and enthusiasm for the fascinating world of robotics to young minds.

Through engaging workshops and events, he was able to inspire curiosity and passion in these budding engineers. Witnessing the growth of their enthusiasm as they interacted with robots and learned about their capabilities was truly rewarding. Riad played a vital role in smoothly coordinating these events, fostering a deep love for STEM education in the next generation.

We are incredibly proud of Riad's achievements and the impact he has made during his internship. This experience exemplifies the excellence of our students and the strong partnerships we maintain with industry leaders. Inspiring Excellence: Owais Afaque Shaikh’s Internship Achievement

We are delighted to announce the achievements of one of our outstanding student, Owais Afaque Shaikh, BSc (Hons) Computer Science who has recently embarked on a transformative internship journey. This exceptional opportunity has allowed them to take their first steps into the professional world, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.

Our student had the privilege of interning at the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Office (REEM) within the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department over the past three months. Under the guidance of Dr. Pablo Izquierdo Lopez and Mr. Andrea Di Gregorio, they were involved in a utility tracker automation software project, which encompassed Python programming, data analysis, SARIMA forecasting, and software development. This invaluable experience not only expanded their skill set but also allowed them to contribute to the department's mission of promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sana Adam, Coordination Specialist, REEM, RAK Municipality in facilitating this enriching internship experience. This opportunity reflects our university's commitment to providing practical and meaningful experiences that prepare our students for successful careers.

UWL RAK Collaborative Triumph: Students Propel Six-Month Marketing Research Project to Success with RVS Media

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the Six Months Marketing Research Project for RVS Media, a prominent UK-based E-Commerce company, in collaboration with UWL Fresh Mind Consultancy Project (UWL Claude Littner Business School). It is with immense pride that we share how our group of nine exceptional students from the Business and Management Department, have played a pivotal role in the triumphant completion of the UWL Fresh Mind Consultancy Project.

The student's active involvement in the project not only provided them with practical E-Commerce exposure but also fostered a sense of collaborative teamwork. With guidance from industry experts, they had the opportunity to enrich their skills, leading to increased confidence in their abilities. Furthermore, this hands-on experience opened doors to expanded networking opportunities, laying a solid foundation for their future achievements. Their unwavering commitment and boundless enthusiasm in the realm of E-Commerce have been consistently evident throughout the project.

Top marks for UWL in National Student Survey (NSS) 2023 results

UWL is delighted to announce that once again we have performed excellently in the National Student Survey. Results published today rank UWL first in London* and third in England* in NSS 2023.

Once again we’re very proud of our Students’ Union who are 1st in London, 3rd in England and 3rd in the UK.

University of West London RAK Branch Campus Celebrates its 3rd Graduation Day

The Graduation Day of the University of West London RAK Branch Campus was commemorated at the JW Marriot Marquis Hotel in Dubai, UAE. The UAE Branch Campus of the University of West London, located at the Academic Zone in Ras Al Khaimah, joyfully celebrated its third graduation ceremony. The event honored the students who successfully completed their degrees in various programs, including MBA, MSc Cybersecurity, MSc Artificial Intelligence, BA (Hon) Business Studies, and BA (Hon) Accounting & Finance.

Prof. Anthony Woodman, Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of West London in the United Kingdom and Chairperson of the University of West London RAK Branch Campus, presided over the momentous Graduation Ceremony. The esteemed guest of honor was Dr. Steven Reissig, the Head of RAKEZ Academic Zone.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Muhammad Shameem, the Deputy Dean of Computing & Engineering at the University of West London RAK Branch Campus. This was followed by insightful speeches from distinguished individuals, including Prof. Anthony Woodman, Ahmed Rafi B Ferry, the CEO of UWL RAK Branch Campus and Managing Director of Wisdom Education Group, Dr. Steven Reissig, the Head of RAKEZ Academic Zone, Mr. Zubair Ibrahim, the Chairman of Wisdom Education RAKEZ and Director of PACE Group, Prof. Muraleedharan, the Academic Dean of Business & Management Studies, Dr. Syed Abbas, the Academic Dean of Computing & Engineering, and Prof. Mohan Agarwal, the Deputy Dean of the Department of Business & Management Studies, UWL RAK Branch Campus.

During his address to the graduating class, Professor Anthony Woodman expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates for their accomplishments, which represent years of hard work and unwavering commitment. He extended his best wishes for their future endeavors, hoping that they find immense success and fulfillment in their chosen paths. Additionally, Professor Woodman conveyed the University of West London's joy in providing wholehearted support to the Branch Campus in Ras Al Khaimah. He emphasized the university's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of education and highlighted that this partnership signifies their commitment to excellence and global educational outreach.

Mr. Ahmed Rafi B Ferry, the CEO of the University of West London RAK Branch Campus, acknowledged that the success of the Branch Campus is a result of the unwavering dedication and hard work of the Academic Deans, namely Prof. Muraleedharan and Prof. Syed Abbas, as well as the Deputy Deans, Prof. Mohanlal Agarwal and Prof. Muhammad Shameem. He also expressed gratitude to the strong team of faculty members, supported by the Operations & Professional Services team led by Mr. Sajesh Nambiar and Mr. Shameel Moidu. Furthermore, Mr. Ferry announced that due to the anticipated increase in new enrollments for the current academic year, the Campus will once again undergo expansion to accommodate the growing number of students.

Dr. Steven Reissig, Head of RAKEZ Academic Zone offered all support to the University of West London RAK Branch Campus during his speech to ensure quality course delivery and infrastructure development.

Mr. Zubair Ibrahim, the Chairman of Wisdom Education RAKEZ and Director of PACE Group, emphasized the equal importance of becoming a good human being alongside obtaining a degree. He also expressed profound sadness over the unfortunate passing of Dr. PA Ibrahim Haji, the former Co-Chairman of the University of West London RAK Branch Campus. Mr. Ibrahim acknowledged Dr. Haji's significant role as a source of energy and a pillar of strength during challenging times, and he reassured that Dr. Haji's legacy and vision will continue to guide the way forward.

During the Graduation Ceremony, a total of 100 students were honored with the prestigious undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of West London in the UK. The event reached its conclusion with an inspiring valedictorian speech delivered by Mr. Ammar Shariq. Following this, Dr. Sunayna Iqbal, Senior Lecturer at UWL RAK Branch Campus, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude on behalf of the institution.

University of West London RAK Branch Campus Student awarded ‘Best Research Proposal’ by UAE Cyber Security Council

Asad Mehmood, a postgraduate student pursuing MSc Cyber Security at the University of West London RAK Branch campus, has been honored by the Cyber Security Council of the UAE for his academic research on "Offensive Cyber Security Practices at a National Level."

Asad Mehmood's exceptional work in the field of cyber security has earned him the prestigious award. Asad was felicitated by the UAE Cyber Security council president Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti. Mehmood's research on the subject matter, which delves into the challenges and opportunities of implementing offensive cyber security practices at a national level, was highly regarded by the council's panel of judges.

Dr. Asshad, a Senior Lecturer at University of West London RAK Branch Campus, accompanied Mehmood to receive the award. Dr. Asshad expressed his pride and congratulated Mehmood on his exceptional achievement, stating that it is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the subject.

Summer Internship

UWL RAK Placement Cell and Employability Lab in association with TCR Innovation is offering a summer internship program that will give all BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and BSc (Hons) Computer Science students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in full stack web development. The internship will be of 3 months duration, starting from 15th June 2023 to 15th September 2023. Upon completion of the internship, students will receive an Internship Certificate & Training Completion Certificate as well as a letter of recommendation and an Appreciation Certificate.

UWL RAK Idea Marathon

The University of West London RAK Branch Campus hosted the grand finale of PAN UAE IDEA MARATHON on January 21 for high school students to submit ideas in business and information technology. Twelve teams out of the 139 that participated in the first round, representing 61 schools from the UAE, were selected for the grand finale.

Annet Cecil Thomas from The Indian High School, Dubai became the winner & Mohammed Uzair Ateef, Mohammed Nuh Abuhuseina & Sandeep Singh from PACE International School, Sharjah became the runner-up in the Web Designing Competition.

Pranay Bapna & Mayur Parthiv Sohanlal from GEMS Millenium School Sharjah became the winner & Ayesha Alzaabi, Meirah Alyammahi & Jawaher Alyammahi from the International School of Choueifat, RAK became the runner-up in the business idea pitching competition.

The winner of the web designing competition displayed an e-commerce platform with features allowing consumers to virtually try out clothes prior to purchase and also compare prices worldwide.

University of West London RAK Branch Campus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Duty Free

We are excited to announce that the University of West London RAK Branch Campus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Duty Free - one of the largest travel retail operators in the world since its opening in December 1983.

The main objective of this MoU is to build an effective permanent partnership ensuring allied benefits. Dubai Duty Free aims to be an active partner in developing and educating young talent in the business and technology landscape through this campus-corporate collaboration program.

University of West London tops the rankings for Teaching Quality and Student Experience

The University of West London has been named “University of the Year for Teaching Quality” and “University of the Year for Student Experience” in the prestigious The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 and is described as ‘home to the nation’s most contented students’ in the Guide.

UWL is now ranked in the top ten universities in London and has risen to an impressive 40th place in the national rankings. This is the first time that both awards have been given to one university in the same year, and it is also the second time in the last three years that UWL has received the student experience accolade.

The University of West London RAK Branch Campus celebrated graduation day at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, UAE on 6th May 2022.

The University of West London UAE Branch Campus, operating in the Academic Zone, Ras Al Khaimah, celebrated its second graduation ceremony for the students who achieved MBA, BA (Hons) Business Studies and BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance qualifications.

Dr Anthony woodman, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of West London United Kingdom, and Chair Person, University of West London RAK Branch Campus, presided over the graduation ceremony. The programme started with a welcome address by Mohammed Zaheer, Director of Operations, University of West London RAK Branch Campus, followed by speeches from Prof. Anthony Woodman, Ahmed Rafi B. Ferry, Director and CEO, UWL RAK Branch Campus, and Managing Director, Wisdom Education Group, Dr Steven Reissig, Chief Academic Zone Officer, RAKEZ, Zubair Ibrahim, Director UWL RAK Branch Campus, and Director PACE Group, Prof. Muraleedharan, Academic Dean, Business and Management Studies, and Dr Syed Abbas, Academic Dean, Computing and Engineering, UWL RAK Branch Campus.

While addressing the graduates, Prof. Anthony woodman said, "The University of West London RAK Branch Campus is the single formal branch campus of the University of West London around the globe and the accomplishments by the graduates are a result of years of hard work and commitment. The University of West London UK is delighted to provide full-hearted support to the branch campus in Ras Al Khaimah to ensure a consitently high quality of delivering courses in the years to come."

Ahmed Rafi B. Ferry, CEO University of West London RAK Branch Campus, said that the success of the campus is due to the hard work and deep hearted commitment from academic deans such as Prof. Murali, Prof. Abbas along with the Dy. Deans Prof. Mohanlal and Dr Shameem along with a strong team of a faculty supported by the operation and admin team headed by Mohammed Zaheer, Director of Operations. Ferry announced that, this year again, the campus will be expanded to accommodate a higher number of new enrollments than expected in the current academic year. He also revealed that along with the existing UG and PG Courses, a BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering course, will launch at the branch campus in the next academic year.

Dr Steven Reissig, Chief Academic Zone officer - RAKEZ, conveyed support to the University of West London RAK Branch Campus during his speech through his comittment to delivering quality courses in the UAE alongside infrastructure development.

Zubair Ibrahim, Director PACE Group, said that to increase your chances of becoming a successful person, education is vital. He expressed deep sorrow at the sad demise of the former Co-Chairman of the University of West London RAK Branch Campus, Dr PA Ibrahim Haji, who was a source of unique energy and a pillar of strength for running the operation during difficult periods and that his legacy and vision will continue.

Prof. Muraleedharan, Academic Dean Management Studies, explained that the success behind the growth of the Branch Campus is due to the strong faculty at the UWL Branch Campus and how the academic team is giving equal importance to delivering strong academic results alongside intensive training, to increase the employability of graduates.

Mohammed Zaheer, Director of Operations, mentioned that the Branch Campus is specific and deeply focused to ensure that the same quality from the Parent Campus in London is delivered in the Branch Campus in Ras Al Khaimah.

Prof. Abbas Naqvi, Academic Dean, Computing and Engineering, mentioned that highly demanded courses such as MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Cyber Security and more, are available at the University of West London RAK Branch Campus and that the intensive experience of the faculty, with extensive industrial exposure, are hired to give the students the vigorous training in their respective fields by foreseeing the best employability opportunities.

In the graduation ceremony at the University of West London UK, the valedictorian speech by Aysha Ferry was followed by a by a statement of appreciation from Dr Sunayna Iqbal, Sr Lecturer, UWL RAK Branch Campus.

Panel Discussion with WICCI India-UAE Business Council

The University of West London RAK Branch Campus in association with WICCI (Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry- UAE Chapter) organised a panel discussion on 5th December 2021 on career stories for young female students. The event was organised by the UWL RAK FemAlphas team and the panel was moderated by WICCI Vice President and Founder of Dia Mitra Academy, Ms. Dia Mitra. The esteemed panelists were subject matter experts from the field of Banking, AI and Accounting with rich experience and exposure in their chosen fields.

Ms.Tannya Jajal elaborated on the need to integrate one's skills and hobbies with one's professional pursuits. Ms. Nasheeda stressed the significance of lifelong learning and gave practical tips to pursue the same. Ms. Sadia Khan spoke on the need to avoid overthinking and to refrain from worrying about the perception of others. Ms. Dia Mitra shared valuable tips on building confidence and took the audience through her experiences in working with multicultural, multinational organisations. Challenging and thought provoking questions were posed by the attendees.

The program was well received with emphatic feedback and requests for an encore!

UWL maintains top 40 position in influential Guardian University League Tables

The University of West London has maintained its top 40 position, after ranking 35th in the influential Guardian University League Tables, thanks to an ‘unrelenting focus on delivering the very best student experience’.

Having jumped an impressive 23 places last year, the University has demonstrated that its success is long-term by establishing itself amongst some of the top universities in the country. The league table also ranks UWL as continuing to be the top modern university in London*.

Professor Peter John CBE, Vice-Chancellor of UWL, said: "In recent years UWL has been on an incredible journey, rising up the league tables and winning a whole range awards. This league table demonstrates our success is long-term and it is all thanks to an unrelenting focus on delivering the very best student experience. UWL wins prestigious accountancy award

University Of West London Claude Littner Business school wins the "Public Sector Accountancy College of the year 2021" award by the PQ magazine UK.

The award recognises the School’s impressive employment rates, excellent links with employers and innovative curriculum.

The award comes after the School won Business School of the Year at the Times Higher Education 2019 in recognition of the work done to reduce the ethnic minority student attainment gap and boost business partnerships.

UWL RAK conducted a webinar on Performance Management on 19th June 2021

University of West London, UAE branch campus hosted an informative and interactive webinar on “Performance Management" on 19 June 2021, with the Keynote Speaker: Mr. Jareer Owiemrin – Management Consultant & Mentor, MBA University of Illinois, USA. Pakistan Association Dubai PAD was the community partner for this webinar.

In his introductory address, Dr. Mohan Agarwal explained the most important goals of performance management that are efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity first recommended by Peter Drucker- the father of modern management. The keynote speaker progressed the theme and explained the importance of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), how to design and implement them. He highlighted the contribution of corporate strategy and leadership communication in this regard. The QA session was very interactive and lively and included some questions on how to manage the performance of remote workers and work-life balance in KPIs.

240+ people registered for the webinar from 137 different organizations from ten different countries including the UK and Canada and mostly from UAE, Pakistan, and India.

In the end, Mr. Muhsin Albana, General Secretary PAD, and Prof. Dr. Mohan Agarwal extended their gratitude in their word of thanks. We are planning & hoping to arrange more of such webinars in the future.
